Krieghoff Classic Double Rifle Now Chambered in .450/.400 NE – 3”! |
Old legends kept alive through the ages tend to grow larger as each generation relates the tale to the next. Not many can live up to the reputation gained from years of storytelling, but one that does is the legendary .450/.400 NE - 3” caliber. Deemed the “perfect caliber” by big game and professional hunters, the .450/.400 NE was noted for delivering the fatal blow with a softer touch than most big five calibers.
As double rifles became a casualty of a struggling economy, the .450/.400 NE faded into obscurity. In 2006, Hornady reintroduced this legendary caliber sending a wave of excitement throughout the big game hunting community.
Krieghoff got caught up in the excitement and introduced the Classic Double Rifle chambered in this all around perfect caliber. The debut at both the Dallas Safari Club and Safari Club International conventions were both tremendous successes! Hunters with the appreciation for legend and lore and the modern technologies that brought back the .450/.400 NE praised the efforts in both venues. Phrases such as “soft shooting”, “self-regulating” and “traditional” were heard in response to the newly chambered Classic.
