The 2012 Gun of the Year

Since 1999 Krieghoff has annually given one special gun the prestigious title of Gun of the Year.  The gun of the year is as much a piece of art as it is a working firearm.  This distinguished honor affords the master engraver and opportunity to show off their talent and expertise.
 

For 2012 a truly unique 32” K-80 Pro-Sporter was given this honor.  The “Freedom Gun” masterfully engraved by Gregor Stögner was the center of attention in the Krieghoff booth at the IWA show. 
 

Featuring deep relief engraving, the “Freedom Gun” highlights the signing of the Declaration of Independence and American soldiers from three wars.  Tastefully highlighted on the bottom of the receiver is the Statue of Liberty with the flame of her torch shining through in gold.  Complimenting the K-80 and completing the theme of freedom is the peace dove engraved on the top latch.
