03 Sep 2015 Lindenwood University Ring Ceremony
Lindenwood’s shotgun sports program celebrated its unprecedented 12th straight national title at a dinner and ring ceremony August 28th at the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, Mo. Over 300 student-athletes, parents, and alumni attended the event. After St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith said a few words, Coach Shawn Dulohery highlighted the victories, academics, and charity work of the team, and noted the loss of one of the biggest supporters of the program over the summer, Jeff Hansen of Hansen’s Tree Service. His son Chad and FM News Talk 97.1 radio personality Jamie Allman shared their memories of the man, who passed away in June.
Damian Giles and Tim Smith were introduced as new shotgun sports assistant coaches for the 2015-16 season, followed by the announcement of the 21 new members joining the team this fall. Nine All-Americans were acknowledged as well as the individual title winners, and then the 2014 championship team members received their rings and belt buckles. The shotgun sports program won its 12th consecutive ACUI Clay Target Championship at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas back in March. The Lions hit a total of 2,252 targets out of 2,350 to finish 45 ahead of second. Lindenwood captured five out of six major team events, along with one individual title.
