20 Jun Hank Garvey Jr. Dominates at National Junior Olympics
17 year old Hank Garvey Jr. finally secured the 2016 National Junior Olympic Gold medal in Double Trap that he had been looking for since his first nationals in 2011 at the age of 12. After having the highest score in the qualifying round, 131/150, he went on to a perfect semifinal and final match shooting a combined 60/60 in those two matches. Hank’s father, Hank Garvey Sr. said, “The 30 in semi final and 30 in Gold medal match were just amazing to watch” which seemed like a great early Father’s Day gift. At Hank Jr.’s previous competitions he made both finals taking bronze in one and silver in another. Garvey is staying at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado to train for the upcoming USA Shooting National Championship. When talking about the goals of the rising Double Trap star his father said, “The goal is that National title and a red vest” and with more performances like these that goal can be accomplished.
