Krieghoff shooters off to great start at 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials

2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials began this week at Tucson Trap & Skeet in Arizona.  In Women’s Trap, Janessa Beaman and Corey Cogdell put on an exhibition in the finals as Janessa took first place honors with Corey finishing second.  Janessa took the first place medal overall which qualified her for the World Cup in Cyprus next year and gives her the lead for the Olympic team.  She finished with 232 total points after finals and qualifying targets.  Corey took second overall with 230 total points and Kayle Browning finished 6th overall with 209 total points.

Myles Walker finished fifth in the second part of the Men’s Trap final, qualifying with a 117/125.  This put him in a three way shoot off for the bronze medal match but he fell short and finished fifth.  He shot a 12 in the final which put him into the shoot-off.  Matt Gossett finished in the first position by qualifying for the final with 117/125 and had a pair of 14’s in the semi-final and final to claim the gold medal for the second half.

For the overall in Men’s Trap, Dustin McGowen finished first overall and also qualified for the World Cup in Cyprus next year along with being in the lead for the Olympic Trials.  Dustin finished with 235 total points at the end of it beating Anthony Matarese and Collin Wietfeldt by one bird as they both had 234 total points.  Bradley Beckmann was the top Collegiate shooter with 224 total points.  Click here for full results.
